Perfume word of the week: ambergris

Also referred to as "liquid gold", since genuine ambergris probably comes from the bowels of the capsule. Exactly how it is formed is unknown but there are theories that it comes, among other things, from the octopuses that the whale eats, then it is simply whale vomit. Nowadays, true ambergris isn't used, it is only produced by synthetic means. And the smell then? Absolutely disgusting. You could call it the bad breath of the sea. But together with other notes, it becomes magical. You wouldn't believe it but it contributes to that deep, sensual and musty scent.
